Securing Federal Funding for Wisconsin AHEC

I collaborated with the communications and government affairs team to organize legislative visits in Washington DC and met with federal officials to lobby for program funding while working as a Communications Specialist for the Wisconsin Area Health Education Centers (AHEC), a healthcare career pipeline program affiliated with the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. Prior to traveling, I wrote and prepared several informational documents describing and promotion our programs. Our team was successful in securing $3 million in federal funding for the next five years.

Role: Writing, relationship building, lobbying

Audience: Federal officials

Employer: Wisconsin Area Health Education Centers (Bonus! I also designed this website.)

Example of promotional documents
